Budget Politics

Taxpayers for Common Sense: An independent advocate for the American taxpayer.

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities: one of the leading organizations in the country working on fiscal policy issues and issues affecting low- and moderate-income families and individuals. The Center specializes in research and analysis oriented toward policy decisions that policymakers face at both federal and state levels. The Center examines data and research findings and produces analyses designed to be accessible to public officials, other non-profit organizations, and the media.

Citizens for Tax Justice: Citizens for Tax Justice is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to fair taxation at the federal, state, and local levels

Civil Rights and Social Justice

Alliance for Justice : Since its founding in 1979, the Alliance has been working to promote a fair and independent judiciary and strengthen public interest advocacy.

American Civil Liberties Union : America's venerable guardian of liberty

Human Right Campaign : Working for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights

Leadership Conference on Civil Rights : The nation's premier civil rights coalition, and has coordinated the national legislative campaign on behalf of every major civil rights law since 1957.

ADA Watch, a project of the National Coalition for Disability Rights

Southern Poverty Law Center : Founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. The Center is internationally known today for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.

Environmental Working Group: The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a not-for-profit environmental research organization dedicated to improving public health and protecting the environment by reducing pollution in air, water and food.

National Resources Defense Council: NRDC uses law, science, and the support of more than 500,000 members nationwide to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things.

Good Government

Common Cause : Common Cause is a nonpartisan nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 1970 by John Gardner as a vehicle for citizens to make their voices heard in the political process and to hold their elected leaders accountable to the public interest.

Project on Government Oversight: The Project On Government Oversight is committed to exposing waste, fraud and corruption in the following areas: defense, energy & environment, contract oversight and open government.

Center for Public Integrity: The Center for Public Integrity, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization, was founded by Charles Lewis following a successful 11-year career in network television news.

Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law: the nation's leading legal advocacy group for the rights of people with mental illness and cognitive disorders.

Campaign for Mental Health Reform : The Campaign for Mental Health Reform has been organized as the mental health community’s united voice on federal policy. Its goal is to make access, recovery, coherence, and quality in mental health services the hallmarks of our nation’s mental health system. It works directly with federal policymakers to make this a reality.

Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health : The national family-run organization dedicated exclusively to helping children with mental health needs and their families achieve a better quality of life.

Musicians for Mental Health : A cool project of the National Mental Health Association

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) : a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety disorders.

National Mental Health Association : the country's oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness.

Reproductive Rights

NARAL Pro-Choice America: NARAL-PCA works to find answers to ultimately reduce the need for abortions by improving access to contraception, reproductive health care, and sex education tirelessly defends a woman's right to choose.

Planned Parenthood: Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., is the world's largest and most trusted voluntary reproductive health care organization.
